On a 50km walk in Vienna, Dietmar Hirschmugl (50 years old) became the Austrian Champion in 5: 48: 16 hours ahead of Franz Kropik (50 years old) in 5: 52: 48 hours. The champion of Poland and the overall winner of the race Jakub Jelonek 4: 08: 27h.

On Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 10 am in ideal endurance weather, the races on the wide main street of the Vienna Ferris Wheel were raced on tracks from 5 km to 50 km.

IMG 20181006 WA0008At the start of the 50km main race, 8 fighters took part in the start, the overall winner and at the same time Jakub Jelonek (1985) became the champion of Poland in the time of 4: 08.27, before his compatriot Grzegorz Grinholc (1977) 4: 54: 45. The other two Poles were disqualified for not following the walking rules, one of them was unfortunately the biggest favorite of the whole Rafal Sikora race. Austrian Championship on this pedestrian marathon 50km track happened Dietmar Hirschmugl (1968) for 5: 48: 16  after a great duel with Franz Kropik (1968) 5: 52: 48. It was a very long race for both of them, after 30 km (still at a very good 3:14:47 o'clock) Franz began to stomach and another almost 20-kilometer martyrdom began to reach the finish line. That ultimately worked. Because I know Franz very well, and I know how he raced in the past years or, for example, in Malaga this year, I have a hat down before him that he managed to manage these really long 50km. Somehow I can't imagine it, even if I should, but it's been a long time (last time 1995 World Cup Beijing, PB 3: 59: 44h), when I completed this royal discipline of walking ..........

Two Tomášs from Hlavka - Hlavenka and Vojtíšek (AC Moravská Slavia Brno) also successfully participated in the frame races. We don't know whether we believe or not, but in any case the first Thomas Tomáš Hlavenka (1977) won the 30km in excellent 2: 30: 39h !!!, I would guess that it is a Czech record on this track in the M40, but I haven't watched it yet ..... excellent performance anyway. The other Tomas, then Tomas Vojtisek (1973)) for only 15 seconds did not overcome the "magic 2h border" on 20km 2: 00: 14h and finished in 3rd place in this framework race.

The two Tomášs therefore quite understandably preferred the journey from Brno to Vienna to the long journey to Šluknov. I absolutely understand them, wandering from Brno along the still unrepaired and broken D1 to Prague and then another 2,5 hours from Prague to Šluknov, when I have Vienna literally "around the corner" ...... This is also a consequence of the fact that we This time, ČAS, together with the chief walking competition in STK Petr Kratochvíl, prevented all forces this year from organizing the International Championship of the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Croatia on 50km this October in Poděbrady (Poděbrady II.), When Prague's Stromovka was not feasible for technical reasons. in detail: HERE. Damage!!! Such a shame!!! So maybe next time !!! But definitely not in 2019, the one who wants to go the 50 km Championship in 2019, whether he is preparing for Dudince from now on (March 2019) ...........
