CHENGDU WORLD SUMMER UNIVERSITY 2023:

RESULTS / RESULTS 20KM RACE WALK MAN/WOMAN

450X324 Chengdu

The summer months traditionally belong to the world's biggest events. Po ME22 was another big event of this year's Universiade. She was able to qualify from the Czech pedestrians Eliska Martínková, which, in addition to the Czech Republic, also represented Charles University in China.

Eliška took to the start in the Chinese city of Chengdu on August 5.8. in the early hours of the morning. Even so, the temperature was already rising to 25º a female competitors had to expect high humidity (90%). He wishesmnewm surprisem it had to be for a female competitore the track surrounded by fans in several rows.

The Chinese women took the lead right from the start. Together with them the Turkish Bekmez, the Italian Mihai, Priyanka from India and our Eliška Martínková. The little Turkish girl and the Chinese girls gave the heat alternately. Around the fifth kilometeru the Italian started to fall away and the Indian competitor decided to go for a blockbuster. However, she soon faced a series of warnings and was happy after her stay in the pit lane, when I free pace she reached her destination. Getting to the finish line played a significant role, because India, together with Slovakia and China, she was able to field at least 3 female competitors, so the team medals were also up for grabs

After 10 km, 2 Chinese women were at the head of the race, The Turk and Eliška Martinc. At 14k, Turkyně started and quickly built up to 100m lead. Eliška worked her way in front of a pair of Chinese women and discreetly went for at least a silver medal. Meryem Bekmez walked confidently at the front of the race and stopped focusing on the pace and her rivals. She looked around distractedly, watching the men's race and less than 2 km before the finish line, she didn't notice Martínková's attack at all. She was approaching the leading competitor very quickly, and suddenly Bekmez discovered that she was de facto behind Martínková. She let herself be completely exhausted, refreshed herself and performed the second blockbuster of the day. She increased the frequency and immediately the bravely fighting Eliška went a few meters away. She confidently maintained her lead until the finish line, where she rejoiced at another big medal. Eliška Martínková most likely experienced a hot moment about 100m before the finish line, when her leg twitched and she jumped, but the finish line was a short distance away, the third Chinese woman was far behind, and so she confidently reached the silver medal. The gold was only 5 seconds away, but the Turk was simply beyond the strength of our competitor that day. The broad smile on the face of the Czech student and her great joy are perhaps a band-aid for the unsuccessful ME22. A performance just below the 1:34 mark is a great encouragement, given the approaching WC, where Eliška will start as a wild card. In demanding climatic conditions, the performance is more than solid.

The men's race had a de facto similar course to the women's. The Chinese group was in the lead together with Turk Korkmaz. He, true to his name, did not hesitate, just like his compatriot, to attack at 14 km. Until then, he was actively leading the race and with his attack he only confirmed his absolute dominance in this race. Unlike Meryem, his performance was very focused, he didn't let anything distract him and he walked very confidently to the gold. Behind him, to the delight of a large number of fans, the local competitors lined up.

EUROPEAN UNDER-20 CHAMPIONSHIP JERUSALEM 2023:

RESULTS / RESULTS 10KM RACE WALK WOMAN

RESULTS / RESULTS 10KM RACE WALK MAN

400X400 u20 JerusalemOn August 9, she stood up for her start at the MEJ Ema Klimentova. She won the right to start with a great performance in Poděbrady, where she achieved a great personal record and fourth place.

The Jerusalem stadium is well known to Emma from last year, when she started at the same place as part of ME18. Then she went another 5000m, this time she had twice the distance.

7 young athletes started at 26 a.m. local time. Ema stayed around the 10th place from the beginning. The front of the race was dominated by a group composed of traditional pedestrian countries - ITA, FRA,

ESP, UKR. The vast majority of young female walkers fought on the edge of personal records, and the PB mark appeared very often at the finish line. A really great and visually beautiful performance was performed by the winning Spanish Santacreu, who reduced her performance to under 46 minutes and gave the second finisher, the Italian Gabriele, almost a minute. As in Poděbrady, the French competitor Delahaie hung the bronze medal around her neck.

Ema Klimentová showed a technically reliable performance against Poděbrady, where the sword of Damocles hung over her in the form of two reds, and she finished 49th in a time of 23.74:12. With this performance, she was only 10 seconds behind the best performance from the July race in Nové Paca, in a race that did not meet WA standards, and so she too had the pleasing abbreviation PB listed in the results.

That's how to compete in big races! Bravo. Ema will be a junior next year, so we wish her further improvement and participation in SJ in Lima, Peru.

The race can be watched on allathletics and thanks to the beautiful performance of the winner, it is really something to watch https://allathletics.tv/videos/3622570/womens-10000m-race-walk-final

The junior race was held a day later and unfortunately without Czech participation. He completely dominated the race with a style start - target last year's winner ME U18 Frederic Weigel. The son of a famous father was not too excited about the fourth place after Poděbrady and left nothing to chance in Jerusalem, he built up a solid lead from the start and kept it until the finish line. In the end, although Hayrettin Yildiz from Turkey tried to finish powerfully, chased by the Italian fighter Diabat, Frederic kept his lead safe and finished with a big time 41:53:58.
